Kevin Clayton’s Bio

Kevin’s formal journey in process improvement started in 2000 when he was trained and certified as a Six Sigma Black Belt by Ford Motor Company. At this time, he also discovered his passion for sharing what he had learnt and started teaching and coaching others along the path of process improvement. He went on to receive his Master Black Belt training and certification whilst working for Bechtel, the global engineering enterprise. Kevin was then transferred into Tube Lines where he spent a 18 months deploying Six Sigma. In addition to executing many projects himself, Kevin has developed hundreds of staff in leadership and problem solving skills.

He considers himself fortunate to have experienced business life in a wide and varied range of organisations. Kevin has held both technical and leadership roles in industries including telecoms, offshore engineering, power distribution, automotive engineering, rail, construction and financial services. He successfully draws on this rich background to provide real life examples and analogies throughout his training and coaching delivery.

Before joining 3 Simple Rules, Kevin held the position of Director of Business Improvement at First Data, a leading credit card processing organisation. He led a team with responsibility for driving improvements within the UK operations. This included card/statement production areas, a large multi-client contact centre and also the client relationship management/sales activities.

Kevin holds a BSc in Engineering Design and an MSc in Manufacturing Management and Technology. His MSc research material on Technology Management contributed to an EPSRC funded programme at Cambridge University. He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, a qualified Master Black Belt (Six Sigma Qualtec) and was trained and certified in Behaviour Analysis by CLG.
