Work Process Improvement

From our experience in the application of Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement and Lean Principles and the analysis of over 200 improvement projects, we have determined the few key tools that are responsible for delivering most value to the activity.  From this analysis we developed a lite approach to work process improvement.

Our focus was on how we could transfer the critical thinking and business acumen so that full time staff who have a day job could produce solutions to problems that are valued by the organisation.

The model we developed is depicted below (click to see a larger version):

Work Process Improvement Course

The course is delivered in 7 modules in a 14 week period.  This gives the course attendees a chance to apply the learning and tools in bite size chunks.  The organisation benefits by reduced time out of the office whilst getting their priority issued address by the people who are responsible for the work.

Our current clients, who have purchased this course, are experiencing a 10:1 rate of return on their investment.

We have had people ask us, "How does the WPI approach compare to Six Sigma or Lean?"  We have prepared a summary table that compares the different approaches.  The inspiration for this was an article written by Dave Nave, Quality Progress, March 2002 called How to compare Six Sigma, Lean and Theory of Constraints.
